Bike of the Week
JEFF’S SHOP BIKE:
Lynskey Ridgeline-29, Single Speed
I’ve had a Ti Hardtail as my primary Mountain bike since 1995 & honestly cannot think of a better frame material for an all purpose XC bike. This is my first regular 29er, however. I didn’t at first “drink the kool-aid” re 29″ wheels, lately I’ve been sipping away. 26″ wheels will always be a choice for me, but you can add 29″ as well. They are for real & they are here to stay. This bike tracks & climbs really well. I’m 6’1″ with a 34.5″ inseam, but this Medium sized frame suits me fine. Less bike, easier to move around on. About the biggest nit pick I have with Lynskey are the chintzy seatpost clamps that come with the frame (note the Specialized clamp in the pic). It’s a small detail & easily replaceable, however…
A few more pictures:
This bike is full of cool little do-hickeys.
The wheels were hand built by Mike w/ Acros Hubs, butted spokes and Stan’s rims. The brakes are Hope’s new Tech X2s, with a monster (for this bike) 185mm front rotor. We would’ve gone with a smaller one here, but we wanted to showcase the stopping power. Skewer’s are also by Hope, this was a fortunate mistake on our part: they were supposed to go on Trey’s SJ HT, but the color didn’t match so… Look Quartz pedals- if you are looking for a light set of pedals with a decent size platform, these are an excellent choice. Perhaps the coolest part is the Albert Bold seatpost. This thing is amazing. You need to stop by & check it out. The Cross Mark tires roll fast & are a nod to my Swiss wife.
