Classic Schwinns from the 60’s-70’s

This should be a blast from the past for all you 30-40-50-60-somethings: a site that collects old catalogs, owners manuals and advertisements of Schwinn bikes from 1960-1979. Chances are, if you were a kid during that era, you either owned or envied a Schwinn bike.
Though the site is mainly a repository for data on Schwinn’s lightweight diamond frame bicycles, the catalogs include all the classic StingRay and canitilever frames as well.
There were a pack of Schwinns in my family when I was growing up. At one time, every member of our 6-person family had their own Schwinn. We used to go on outings to the Chickamauga Battlefied to ride. My dad would strap all the bikes to a boat trailer, herd the family into our Ford Country Squire wagon, and off we’d go for a day of cycling and picnicking.

I have a Schwinn World Traveler in mint condition that is $34.00 years old. How much is it worth? Do they have a catalog with parts for this model? It’s Lime green and black.

Linda, you may wish to contact Adam via the Contact Us form.
If indeed your bike is 34 years old, that would make it a 1974. The ‘74 catalog does not show a World Traveler model, so you might want to look at the other catalogs via the link above.
There is an owner’s manual for a 1973 World Traveler. Those models were imported from Japan and had high quality lugged lightweight steel frames (actually better than the Chicago, USA made Schwinns which had heavy hi-tensile steel brazed frames). They were, however, not quite as nice as the made-in-Waterloo Paramount frames.

I have two Schwinn Bikes, one Boy Mdl G1180, S/N 3611227 and one Girl Mdl 1280, S/N 3129443, like new, orig. condition. I was wodering what the age may be. My local Bike shop was unable to help me out with the date.
