Ante Up For The Trails

Trails don't build themselves.

It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to build and maintain the trails we all ride, sometimes without thinking about how they got there and who has been maintaining them. Here's an opportunity for you to pay it forward and Ante Up For The Trails.

We are very happy today to announce a drawing to benefit building trails in Santa Cruz. For each $5 you ante up you will receive a chance to win the Ibis model of your choosing, spec’d to the nines. Better yet, every fist full of dollars you pitch in goes directly to trails in Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz is a world-renowned mountain bike destination. The convergence of towering redwoods, verdant mountains, and the shimmering Pacific are attraction enough, but add A+ #1 trails to the mix and we have our land of milk and honey (not to mention Ibis Galactic HQ!). The great folks at Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz are just getting started, they now have more opportunities to build new trails than ever before. They are working to develop new pump tracks and dirt jump spots, and are maintaining miles of trail at a feverish rate.

We are anteing up a bike, and hope you will ante up so that we can go all-in on making mountain biking in Santa Cruz even better.

Even if you don't live in Santa Cruz, why not donate a few bucks? You never know when you might end up on one of the trails here. The drawing is open worldwide. The last drawing we did was won by Sara in Switzerland. She's happy she donated!

The winner of this drawing will get to choose any bike from the current IBIS line up decked out properly.

Escape To Hurricane by Jeff Kendall-Weed

Jeff Kendall-Weed recently moved from sunny California to not as sunny Bellingham, Washington.

Faced with his first Bellingham winter, Jeff found himself longing for some sunshine, so he headed down to the high desert in Hurricane, Utah.

Follow Jeff on his excellent adventure. Jeff got help from good 'ol Ibis Cycles, BikeFlights.com, Kali Protectives, and Kitsbow Cycling Apparel.

One Jeff landed in Utah, our good friends at Over The Edge Sports in Hurricane took good care of him.

That's a big gap!

POC and Ibis continue Enduro team partnership

Ahead of the first round of the Enduro World Series (EWS) in Rotorua, New Zealand, Ibis and POC are proud to formally announce their continued partnership with the Ibis Cycles Enduro Race Team for the 2017 season.

POC, a leading manufacturer of helmets, eyewear, body armor, apparel and accessories was founded in 2005 in Sweden, with the mission “to do the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes and cyclists”.

2016, which was the first year of partnership between POC and Ibis, marked a great EWS season for the team with some fantastic individual performances spread throughout the year and ending with an incredible second place overall in the team competition. The 2017 season will hopefully produce more of the same and the team will again ride with POC helmets, eyewear, body armor and apparel, including the enduro range of POCs new mountain bike collection, Resistance.

Paul Morel, Head of Marketing, POC, said – “The first season of our partnership has been marked by extremely positive experiences and it’s a pleasure to keep working closely together with Ibis and the Enduro Race Team in 2017. At POC our mission guides us on everything we do, and working with a company like Ibis, who want the best performance and safety for their athletes fits perfectly with our approach. We have been really impressed by their dedication to their team riders and how they are continually looking to innovate to improve the rider experience. We are proud that our products have helped the team perform to such a high standard and their feedback has been invaluable in making our Resistance collection even better in 2017, which we hope will be seen in this year’s EWS results”.

During the 2017 season many of the Ibis team riders will use the Tectal Race and Coron helmets, Crave sunglasses and Cornea goggles, VPD knee and elbow pads, and the new Resistance enduro jerseys and shorts which feature a specific race cut, advanced fabric and integrated protection.

Tom Morgan, Ibis President and Team Manager, continued – “We are incredibly proud of what the team achieved last year, especially as they naturally took on and developed the personality of Ibis. Continuing our successful partnership with POC is also part of that personality as we have mutual perspectives on rider safety and performance. As we look forward to the new season of racing, and all the extremely diverse environments we will go to, it’s really good to know we have leaders in innovation, performance and safety supporting the riders as they take on some extremely technical and fast EWS races”.

The 2017 EWS racing season will kick off on the 26th March in the Southern Hemisphere with Rotorua challenging the riders with some of New Zealand’s most technical singletrack.

Robin Wallner, Ibis Cycles Enduro Team rider added – “I’ve had a long partnership with POC, which started way back in 2009. Throughout that time what has struck me most is their absolute focus on rider safety and performance. Their willingness to listen to rider feedback is a key asset and from the training and riding we have already done this year it is easy to see that the needs of enduro racers have been integrated in their protection and new Resistance apparel.”
